We’ve seen dogs groomed to look like camels, buffalo, roosters and more — but what about the steps it takes to transform dogs from, well, dogs, to completely different creatures?

A new one-hour special from TLC, Extreme Poodles, dives into the world of competitive grooming, following four groomers as they primp and style their pooches into a myriad of other animals and objects. The individuals are vying for a $5,000 cash prize and a cover of Groomer to Groomer magazine — so the stakes are high.
